48V 200Ah short size (S51200A) or long size (S51200B): which one fits your cart?

Talk / Battery Q&A
A fleet is ordering 48V 200Ah lithium packs and finds two listings with the same capacity: S51200A (short size) and S51200B (long size). The tray is under the seat deck and nobody has measured it.
Direct answer: Both are rated 51.2V, 200Ah and 10.24 kWh, but they are different shapes: the short pack is 750 × 330 × 273 mm and 79 kg, the long pack 940 × 340 × 250 mm and 90 kg. Choose by measured space and weight, then check the current rating, which is 180A continuous for the short pack and 200A for the long pack.
The two pages list the same core values: 51.2V nominal, 200Ah, 10,240 Wh, LiFePO4 cells, IP67, more than 6,000 cycles at 80% DOD, charging at 0–60 °C, discharging at −20 to 65 °C and a 5-year warranty.
What differs is shape, mass and current. The S51200A short-size pack is 750 × 330 × 273 mm (29.5 × 13 × 10.7 in) and 79 kg, with 180A maximum continuous charge and discharge and a 200A peak for 30 seconds. The S51200B long-size pack is 940 × 340 × 250 mm (37 × 13.4 × 9.8 in) and 90 kg, with 200A continuous and a 200A peak for 30 seconds. So the long pack is 190 mm longer, 23 mm lower and 11 kg heavier, with a continuous rating 20A higher.
Fit comes down to the tray. A long, low space suits the long pack, and a shorter, deeper space suits the short pack. Measure tray length, width, usable height under the seat deck, cable route and hold-down position. The spec tables do not include terminal-position drawings, so request a drawing for the exact model before ordering.
Weight matters for handling and for the cart. A 79 kg or 90 kg pack is a two-person lift, and the cart maker, not Redway’s page, sets the cart’s payload and axle limits. Check them with the cart maker before changing the battery.
One page quirk to resolve in writing: the FAQ text on the short-size page mentions “210Ah (10.75kWh)”, while its spec table says 200Ah and 10.24 kWh. Use the spec table and ask Redway to confirm on the quote. Both pages also show a “full charge driving range” of 120–160 km, which depends on cart, load and terrain and should not be used for sizing. For energy-based sizing see our 100Ah vs 150Ah range post.

Same capacity does not mean interchangeable. Put the model code (S51200A or S51200B) on the purchase order, not just “48V 200Ah”, and confirm shipping weight with the quote.

Choose on the tray envelope first, then check the controller and wiring against the continuous rating (180A or 200A) and the 30-second 200A peak. If hill loads approach those figures, ask Redway about higher-current options.

After installation, check that the pack is strapped so it cannot slide, cables have strain relief and the BMS is reachable. Re-check the hold-downs after the first week of use.

Verify before ordering: Terminal-position drawings and BMS differences between S51200A and S51200B are not published; ask Redway.
