Buyer question

A buyer sees PM-LV48100-3U and PM-LV48100-3U-PRO listed, and the PRO version is quoted higher. The supplier says it is “better”.

Main answer

Direct answer: On the published tables, the electrical ratings of the standard and PRO pages are identical. We compared them line by line: the visible differences are that the PRO page lists the ESS single-core quick-plug connector as included (“Yes”, against “Optional” on the standard page) and adds an LCD screen to its list of optional upgrades. Ask Redway in writing what PRO means before paying the difference.

We compared the PM-LV48100-3U with the PM-LV48100-3U-PRO, and the PM-LV51100-3U with the PM-LV51100-3U-PRO. Within each pair the pages list the same nominal voltage, capacity, energy, dimensions (420 × 440 × 136 mm), weight, charge and discharge limits (100A continuous, 110A for 10 seconds, 150A for 0.5 seconds), temperature ranges, parallel limit (64 modules), cycle life (more than 8,000 cycles at 80% DOD and 0.5C), IP21, communications (RS485 / RS232 / CAN bus), warranty (10 years) and certifications list.

What differs in the tables: the PRO pages list “ESS Battery Single Core Quick Plug Connector: Yes”, while the standard pages list “Optional”. The PRO pages also include “LCD Screen” in the optional-upgrades list. Both versions already list an LCD screen and a circuit breaker as fitted in the specification table. One pair also prints the energy as “5.12 kWh (5 kWh)” on the PRO page and “5 kWh (5.12 kWh)” on the standard page, which is only a rounding order.

What the pages do not say: whether PRO uses a different BMS board, different cells, a different enclosure, extra protocol support, or a different quality or test grade. Every version lists the same BMS brands (JBD, DALY, DAREN), the same cell makers and the same inverter brand list. So any real PRO difference is not on the product page.

Ask Redway for a written comparison that names the differences in hardware, firmware and protocol support, the warranty terms for each, and the part numbers for the connector. If the only change is the quick-plug connector, check whether the standard version with the connector option costs the same. If the difference matters to you (for example, SNMP or auto-DIP addressing), get it in writing.

Our post on paralleling PM-LV rack batteries of mixed age explains why mixing versions needs a written check. Do not mix standard and PRO modules on one bus unless Redway confirms they can share it.

Pay for PRO only for a feature you can name and test. The published tables show one connector line and one optional-list item, so ask for the written reason for the price gap.

Compare firmware, protocol support and addressing (manual or automatic DIP) with your inverter’s needs. If the pages list the same specs, ask Redway for the part-number-level differences.

Keep a record of which version is installed in which rack, and avoid mixing them without confirmation. Spare modules should match the installed version.

Verify before ordering: The PRO difference is not defined on the product pages beyond one connector line; the true differences must come from Redway.
