What belongs on a lithium golf cart battery inspection checklist, and how often?

A fleet manager wants a simple inspection routine for 40 lithium golf carts now that watering and specific-gravity checks are gone.
Direct answer: Lithium packs need less routine work than lead-acid but not none. Redway’s 48V 100Ah page gives a basic chart: check connections monthly, clean terminals as needed, monitor the state-of-charge meter regularly and run a performance test annually. Add checks for the hold-down, case, cables, charger and records, and adjust the intervals to your fleet’s use and the battery manual.
What the battery management system covers. The BMS protects cells against overcharge, over-discharge, over-current and temperature limits. It does not see a loose hold-down, a chafed cable, a cracked case or a charger set to the wrong profile. Those need a person.
Daily or at check-in. Note state of charge and any alarm, and check that the cart is plugged in properly. A cart that returns lower than usual for the same route is worth logging.
Monthly. Check terminal tightness and look for heat discolouration on lugs and cables; check the hold-down and that the pack cannot move; inspect the case for cracks or swelling; check charger plugs and cords for damage. The 48V 100Ah (S51105) page lists monthly connection checks.
Annually. Run a performance check, for example a full charge followed by a measured route or a capacity check agreed with the supplier, and compare with earlier years. Review the BMS or app history for cell imbalance or repeated alarms; see reading cell voltage in the app.
Charger and profile. Confirm each charger matches its pack. The 48V 100Ah lists 58.4V maximum charge, the 48V 150Ah (S48150P) lists 54.75V and the 36V 100Ah lists 43.8V, so chargers are not interchangeable between them.
Cleaning and storage. Follow the washing guidance in washing a cart with an IP67 battery, and for the off-season see storage state of charge. Record each inspection by cart number and battery serial.
Who does what. Split the list between drivers or attendants (daily check-in, alarms, plugging in), the fleet technician (monthly checks, torque, cables, charger profiles) and the supplier (annual review of logs and any warranty items). A shared log, on paper or in a spreadsheet, lets each person see what was found last time. After any washing, collision, curb strike or flooding, inspect the battery area before the cart goes back into service, rather than waiting for the next scheduled check.

A one-page schedule per cart cuts service calls and gives the supplier evidence if a warranty claim is needed.
↳ Replying to Procurement perspective
Separate what the BMS protects from what only a person can see: hold-down, case, cables, lugs and charger profile.
↳ Replying to Selection/Engineering perspective
Use monthly connection checks, annual performance checks and a log per serial number; tighten intervals for hilly courses or rental fleets.
