How do 48V 50Ah, 100Ah and 180Ah general lithium batteries differ from golf cart models?

Talk / Battery Q&A
A buyer sees a 48V 100Ah lithium battery in Redway’s general range and a 48V 100Ah golf cart battery with the same voltage and capacity, and wonders why the two exist and which one to put in a cart.
Direct answer: They share voltage and capacity but are built for different use. On the pages, the general 48V models have an ABS plastic case, IP65 (IP67 on the 180Ah), BCI-style or rectangular cases and a 3-year warranty, with RV, marine, solar and other uses listed. The golf cart models have a metal shell, IP67, a vent, a power switch, an aviation-connector communication socket, stated driving ranges and a 5-year warranty. For a cart, the golf cart model is the one designed and warranted for that duty; for other uses, compare the tables.
General models. 48V 50Ah: 51.2V, 2.56 kWh, 501 × 185 × 242 mm, 20 kg, 50A continuous, 150A for 15s, IP65, ABS case. 48V 100Ah: 5.12 kWh, 523 × 269 × 218 mm (BCI Group 8D), 39 kg, 100A continuous, 300A for 15s, IP65, ABS. 48V 180Ah (the URL says 184Ah, the table 180Ah): 9.216 kWh, 678 × 238 × 296 mm, 65 kg, 100A or 150A continuous, 300A for 10s, IP67, ABS, LCD screen. All list a 3-year warranty, 58.4V maximum charge and 40V cut-off.
Golf cart models. The 48V 100Ah golf cart battery (S51105) lists 460 × 334 × 247 mm, 43 kg, 100A continuous, 200A for 10s, IP67, metal shell, vent, power switch, “Aviation Connector Socket” communication interface, a 64–80 km range figure and a 5-year warranty. The 48V 50Ah golf cart model lists a similar metal-shell, IP67 design.
What the differences mean. Case and IP rating: a metal shell and IP67 suit a vehicle that sees vibration, splashes and washing; an ABS case and IP65 suit sheltered installations. Shape: the general packs follow battery-box shapes used in RVs, boats and solar systems; the golf packs are shaped for cart trays. Current: peak ratings and durations differ (15s vs 10s), so compare them against the load. Warranty: 3 years vs 5 years on the pages, and the terms may depend on the use.
Choosing. For a golf cart, choose the golf cart model unless Redway confirms in writing that a general model is approved and warranted for that use. For RV, marine or solar use, the general models’ case shapes and options may fit better. Either way, read the table for charge voltage and current, not the label. ↳ Replying to Redway Battery Editorial Team
Buy the SKU family designed and warranted for the application. A cheaper general pack in a cart can leave you without warranty cover if the use is excluded; ask Redway before substituting.
↳ Replying to Procurement perspective
Compare case, IP rating, dimensions, continuous and peak current with duration, and the communication interface. The same 51.2V 100Ah label hides different designs.
↳ Replying to Selection/Engineering perspective
Charge both families to the 58.4V lithium profile. Keep ABS-cased general packs away from washing and impact, and store all packs within the page temperature limits.

Verify before ordering: Whether general 48V models are approved and warranted for golf cart use is not stated; confirm with Redway. The 48V 184Ah page lists 180Ah.
